Machine Shop RFQ Form Planning Kit

Plan the fields, drawing-sharing instructions and handoff behind one useful quote-request page. This free KriXis worksheet helps a shop owner, estimator and website team agree on what the first inquiry should collect and how it reaches the right person.

No signup is required. The download is a ZIP containing a standalone HTML worksheet and simple instructions. Extract it and open the HTML file in a current browser. Complete the fields, then use Print / Save to PDF before closing. Entries are not automatically saved when the file closes.

What the planning kit includes

  • A request-purpose brief with a primary inquiry owner, backup and technical reviewer.
  • Eight field records to explain each label, whether it is required and what routing or review decision it supports.
  • A drawing-route plan covering accepted formats, limits, recipient access and the responsible implementation owner.
  • Drafting spaces for opening instructions, helper text, error messages and the receipt message.
  • A buyer-to-estimator handoff record distinguishing application receipt, notification and assignment.
  • A verification log and publishing checklist with space for observed results and unresolved issues.

The kit is intended for planning. It does not create a working form, upload portal or notification system. Implementation and technical controls need to be checked in the actual website environment.

Complete it in three working sessions

1. Walk through the first request with an estimator

Choose one service page and the action a visitor should take from it. Identify which information is needed to reply, which information helps check initial fit and which details belong in a later drawing-sharing step. Give every required field a concrete reason. Use an allowed “not decided yet” answer where uncertainty is part of the real buying process.

2. Agree on instructions and ownership

Write the field labels and nearby helper text. Confirm the supported file route with the person responsible for the website and technical data. Name the inquiry owner and backup. Draft a receipt message that accurately describes what has happened and what follows, without claiming the request has already been reviewed.

3. Record live test observations

Use approved, non-confidential test information. Check desktop, a phone-sized layout, keyboard use, missing fields, upload limits and the destination where the team actually receives a request. Record application success separately from notification delivery and estimator assignment. Keep unresolved items as tasks with an owner and due date.

Keep technical data in your approved systems

Use references to internal records rather than pasting confidential drawings, customer names or restricted specifications into the worksheet. The HTML resource has no submission form, file uploader, external scripts or analytics. It operates locally in your browser. You are responsible for where you save the completed PDF and who can access it.

Use the guide alongside the worksheet

The RFQ form design guide explains how field choices, drawing routes, feedback and routing work together. For the next stage after receipt, see qualifying machine shop leads. For the upstream page, use the capability-page blueprint.

Want help reviewing a public request path?

Use the KriXis RFQ form review inquiry page to share your public URL and a non-confidential description of the issue. The inquiry starts a scope discussion; it does not book an audit or promise a particular outcome.
